Diversity & Inclusion

At RMR, we believe that an inclusive workplace positions us to achieve extraordinary results. Our goal is to create fair, equitable opportunities for all employees by celebrating differences, welcoming and listening to diverse perspectives, creating new spaces for conversation and encouraging collaboration.

In addition to developing company wide programming, we have taken the following steps to strengthen our collaborative and inclusive culture at RMR:

Partnerships with Industry Groups

Partnerships with industry groups on efforts focused on introducing women, minority college and MBA students to career opportunities within real estate.

Talent Development Programs

Targeted development programs that help RMR women and minority professionals take steps to build successful careers at RMR and in the real estate industry.

Employee Learning Forums

Employee learning forums that help RMR professionals understand the value of diversity and take steps to contribute to and cultivate our culture of inclusion.

Cultivating Women Leaders

At The RMR Group, we firmly believe that inclusion of women is important for development, retention and driving long term value. In conjunction with Adam Portnoy, President and CEO and led by Executive Vice President and General Counsel, Jennifer Clark, our programming provides a forum for dialogue around the issues that women face in the workplace, and the skills critical for professional success, including diversity, inclusion and empowerment. Our events have attracted hundreds of employees, both women and men, to join the discussions.

RMR Leans In

The RMR Leans In group encourages a dialogue around the growth and development of women in the workplace. Initiated by Executive Vice President Jennifer Clark and other RMR women leaders, this original steering committee subsequently expanded their outreach to support the next generation of RMR leaders through mentoring and sponsorship of their female and minority colleagues on their professional career paths. To date, the group has produced several successful events, including talks with authors Joann Lublin of The Wall Street Journal and Joe Coughlin of MIT, and discussions on unconscious gender bias, work-life balance and workplace mentorship and sponsorship.

Accelerated Women in Leadership

An example of the many positive outcomes of RMR Leans In, The Accelerated Women in Leadership Program (AWLP) provides a targeted learning experience that helps women strengthen and leverage their contribution and impact to grow professionally. Participants discuss a variety of topics including unconscious bias, integrating work and home life, and enhancing negotiation skills.
